A Felton woman was arrested on Friday, Aug. 9 at the Valley Medical Center in Santa Clara on suspicion that she had posed as a nurse.

Deputies from the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office arrested Crystal Cook, 29, at 9:30 a.m. on Friday after hospital employees detained her, following up on a report of someone pretending to be a nurse.

At the time of her arrest, Cook was wearing scrubs, a stethoscope, and had in her possession a fake RN identification card with no security access.

According to Sgt. Kurtis Stenderup, there was no evidence that she had medically treated anybody while incognito.

“Right now, we’re going through surveillance video to (figure out) if she did anything more,” Stenderup said.

Though he was unable to release Cook’s statement, Stenderup said that Cook had no malicious intent.

Cook was released shortly after her she was taken into custody because her bail added up to less than $5,000, Stenderup said.

She is scheduled to appear in court date is set for Monday, Sept. 23 at the Hall of Justice in downtown San Jose for charges of false impersonation of a county employee and possession of a fake identification.
