A memorial service was scheduled Wednesday, April 10, in Mariposa for former Boulder Creek resident Joseph Dalton, who died March 15 in Los Banos. He was 93.

Mr. Dalton was born in Rochester, N.Y., and retired from the county of Santa Clara. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a former parishioner of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Boulder Creek.

Mr. Dalton lived in Boulder Creek for 14 years before moving to Mariposa and Merced for 16 years. He had lived in Los Banos the past seven years.

He is survived by three children, Eileen Dalton, and her husband, Alan Cherry, of Santa Cruz, Mary Wolf of Patterson and Pete Dalton of Alaska; a sister, Helen Bouchard, and her husband, Bob, of Rochester; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his spouse, Kathleen Dalton; his parents, John and Margaret Dalton; and four siblings, Jack Dalton, John Dalton, Margaret Norton and Doris Hoff.

A memorial Mass was celebrated at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mariposa.

Whitton Family Funeral Services of Merced is handling arrangements.
