Larry O’Bannon of Boulder Creek died Jan. 5 following a long illness.

Born in the Los Angeles area, he moved to Santa Cruz County in 1976 and had lived in the San Lorenzo Valley for a number of years.

Mr. O’Bannon was a talented drummer, sometimes playing in as many as four area bands at the same time. He last played with Roughhouse, a locally famous blues band, from 1992 until 2008.

He was an expert cabinetmaker and shop foreman at Loughridge Cabinets in Scotts Valley for many years.

He is survived by his partner, Patti Pritchard; two children, Crystal Dawn O'Bannon and Ian O’Bannon of Los Banos; sisters, Jo Poulton of Tahoe City and Victoria McClaren of Aptos; brothers, Jeff O’Bannon and Dan O’Bannon of Watsonville; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert O’Bannon and Mary O’Bannon.
