Gilbert throws no-no

San Lorenzo Valley High School’s Tyler Gilbert tossed a no-hitter in the Cougar’s 11-0 win over visiting Santa Cruz High School on April 24.

Gilbert struck out six and walked three, but did not allow a hit in seven innings of work to earn the victory.

“He’s doing really well,” said Head Coach Shane Sutcliffe. “He’s not giving up a whole lot of hits.”

Sutcliffe said Gilbert has allowed nine hits in 27 innings pitched, helping the Cougars to a 13-3 record including 5-2 overall. Offensively, Rick Alves went 2-for-5 and Gilbert went 2-for-4 to lead the Cougar attack.

The Cougars are in second place to league-leading Aptos (7-0).
